Happy New Year!
We hope that the Holiday break was an enjoyable, relaxing time for you and your loved ones. We are looking forward to building an even stronger community with you in 2015!
January 10th, 2pm
As in the poster above, January is Composition month!
Composition is a valuable musical skill to have, and is easier (and way more fun) than you might think! Composition has been so valued over the course of history, that "...until the 2nd World War it was virtually unheard of for someone only to play the piano and not to write music as well. To arrive in a town to play only someone else’s compositions in the 19th century would have provoked a raised and not entirely approving eyebrow" (Stephen Hough).
This month, we hope to inspire you and give a little more instruction on how to compose your own music. At our workshop, we will show you tricks and tips to writing music, a few ways to document your ideas with apps or manuscript paper, and even help you get started on your very own piece! Each student will go home with the start of their very own composition.
For this event, please RSVP by January 8th.
