April's theme at the MUSiK SHOP is Music History! We are excited to learn about where our music came from, why it sounds like it does, and who wrote the songs that we play. At the end of the month, we will be having a guest teacher in for a special music history event that you won't want to miss out on!
We are excited to be a part of the 2014 Mommies 'N Munchkins fair!
Join us on Saturday, April 19th between 10am and 4pm at the George Preston Recreation Centre. This family friendly event will include a wide variety of vendors, several children's entertainers, the Township of Langley Fire Department, and many gourmet food trucks. Admission is $2, and kids under 12 come free.
We will have a keyboard and guitar available to play, be hosting a draw for free and discounted lessons for new students, and will have plenty of free giveaways. See you there!
April's performance opportunities are being held on April 26th. This month, we are requiring each student to play at one of our performances. Performing is a very important aspect of music. After all - music is for sharing, not for keeping to ourselves!
Two performance options are available:
- Students may sign up to play at Trendz Coffee House in Brookswood at 5pm (max. 20 students),
- Students may sign up for our History Event, "Bach to Brahms, Bartok to Beatles - How We Got Our Music", at the MUSiK SHOP.
- Young/Beginner students up to age 12 may come at 1:30pm,
- Intermediate/Senior students ages 12+ may come at 2:45pm,
- Max. of 15 students per event.
Parents, performers, and guests attending our Trendz performance are asked to come 10 - 15 minutes early to order food and drinks and settle in so as to not disturb our performers as they play.
To sign up:
Fill in our sign-up sheet at the front desk. Alternatively, you may email or call us to sign up for a performance.
For the adult students, we have a lunch planned for 12:00pm on May 3rd. This is a relaxed atmosphere in the safety of the MUSiK SHOP's main studio room. Come prepared to enjoy each other's music. This is a non-threatening event with lots of mutual encouragement. (Smart little kids are not invited!) We always have a good time. Plan to be there!
Just a reminder - If you would like a tax receipt to claim up to $500 on your child's music lessons, send us an email letting us know! Tax receipts were sent to all eligible families several weeks ago, but if you did not receive one and would like one please let us know ASAP.
